Bio

Grant Hemmingsen was hired as Concordia's head coach in the winter of 2017. Hemmingsen takes over the helm of the Cobbers after serving for four seasons as the main assistant coach for the program.   

Hemmingsen came to Concordia in the summer of 2013 as the team's top assistant. For his final three years as assistant coach he was in charge of the team's recruiting process. Before Concordia Hemmingsen served as an assistant at NCAA Division II Kentucky Wesleyan from 2010-13.

As a player Hemmingsen was a two-year starter at Augsburg and played for the Auggies for three years from 2004-07. 

Before taking the reins after the 2016-17 season Hemmingsen had been directly involved in all aspects of the Cobber program. In addition to his responsibilities with leading recruiting, he helped with day-to-day administration and on-court activities.

Hemmingsen was an assistant coach at Minneapolis Southwest High School for two years before his time at Kentucky Wesleyan. Hemmingsen also had success as an AAU coach where he guided under-16 and under-17 year-old teams for the 43 Hoops Basketball Club.    

As a high school player Hemmingsen was a three-year letter winner and two-year starter at Mounds View High School. He was named team captain in his senior season and helped lead the Mustangs to the conference and sectional titles and a trip to the state tournament as a senior in 2002.
