Total Team Effort In 30-Point Win At Martin Luther

MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/28/22)---It was a total team effort in Concordia's 92-62 win over non-conference opponent Martin Luther.

The Cobbers had 12 different players score at least two points and had eight players knock down a 3-pointer, as they scored the most points in a single game by a Cobber team since the start of the 2019-20 season.

The 30-point margin of victory is the most by the Cobbers since Nov. 28, 2015 when CC beat Crown by 33 points.     

The win is the second in the last three games for Concordia who is now 2-4 on the season.

Concordia, playing in their second game in the past three days, never trailed against the Knights. Junior Matthew Johnson drained a 3-pointer in the Cobbers' second possession which started a 17-4 run to start the game.

Concordia would push the lead to 24 points at the halftime break by outscoring Martin Luther 32-19 in the final 7-minutes of the opening period.

The Cobbers never let Martin Luther get to within 22 points in the second half. CC opener with an 11-6 streak and closed with a 12-5 stretch to earn its first non-conference win of the year.   

Concordia held the advantage in all three shooting categories. The Cobbers shot 50.0% (32-for-64) from the floor, 44.8% (13-for-29) from distance and 88.2% (15-for-17) from the free throw line. Martin Luther was held to 35.0% (21-for-60) from the floor, 28.0% (7-for-25) from outside the arc and 81.3% (13-for-16) from the foul line.

The Cobbers also enjoyed a 38-31 edge in total rebounds and a 28-20 margin in points in the paint.

The 32 made field goals, 13 made 3-pointers and 38 total rebounds are all season highs for the Cobbers.

Concordia had four of its five starters finish with at least 10 points. Senior point guard Jackson Jangula led all players with 15 points. He was 4-for-7 from the floor and 5-for-5 from the foul line.

Rowan Nelson, Johnson and Alex Huber combined for 41 points. Nelson had 14 points and seven rebounds, while Johnson also had 14 points and Huber went 4-for-5 from the field and added 13 points.

Dylan Inniger came off the bench to grab a game-high eight rebounds. He also tied his season high in points with 11.

A trio of freshmen all scored their first collegiate points in the game. RJ Jioklow was 2-for-4 from the floor and had four points, while Sammy Bolger and Tyler Kraft both knocked down a 3-pointer and finished with 3 points.
