Bolger Named MIAC Player of the Week

MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/18/16)—Jordan Bolger was named the MIAC Player of the Week as he scored at least 20 points in all three of Concordia's wins last week.

Bolger becomes the first Cobber player to win the conference weekly award this season. It is the third time he has collected the honor in his career. Bolger won the award on two occasions last year.

Bolger averaged 21.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and shot 55.8% from the field in helping Concordia post wins over Hamline, St. Mary's and Macalester. The three victories have catapulted the Cobbers into the top 6 of the conference as the team heads into the second half of league play.

Bolger started the week by scoring 23 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in Concordia's 81-66 win at home over Hamline. He followed that up with a 20-point, seven-rebound performance at St. Mary's in an 81-65 win on Wednesday. Bolger capped his 20-point scoring week by putting up 22 points and hauling down seven rebounds in an overtime win at Macalester on Saturday.

Bolger currently leads the MIAC in scoring in overall games and conference contests. He is averaging 19.1 points in the 13 games he has played this season. His 19.3 points per game average in MIAC play is 0.5 points higher than the next player in the league.

In addition to leading the conference in scoring, he also leads the MIAC in rebounding in league games. Bolger is averaging 8.7 rebounds in MIAC play this season.

Bolger also leads the MIAC at the halfway point of conference play in minutes played, field goals, defensive rebounds, total rebounds and points. He is in the top 2 in the conference in nine different statistical categories.

Bolger, and the rest of the Cobbers, will have a lighter load this week as the team only has one game on the schedule. Concordia will host Bethel on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 1 p.m. The Royals are one of the two teams tied with the Cobbers with six wins in league play. Concordia lost to Bethel 75-66 in the first half of the conference season in Arden Hills.
