Lindahl Named MIAC Player Of The Week

MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/14/13)—Concordia senior guard Aaron Lindahl (Benson, Minn.) was named the MIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week becoming the first Cobber to earn the weekly award since the 2009-10 season.

Lindahl was one of the team leaders in Concordia's three wins last week. He averaged 16.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 55.2% from the floor and an even .50.0% from three-point range.

Lindahl and the rest of the Cobbers averaged more than 80 points last week as they ran their win streak to seven games. It is the longest winning streak for Concordia since the 1995-96 season. The three victories also helped push the Cobbers into sole possession of second place in the league standings. CC is now 10-4 in all games and 7-2 in conference play.

What makes the award even more special for Lindahl is the fact that he is recovering from a knee injury that ended his 2011-12 season in December of 2011.

Lindahl started the week last week by scoring 16 points, collecting three rebounds and adding two steals in a 93-72 win over St. Mary's at home. On Wednesday he scored 14 points to go along with seven boards and three assists in a narrow 70-67 win on the road at Saint John's, and he ended the week with his finest of the three performances. Lindahl just missed a double-double in a 78-67 win over Hamline Saturday, recording 18 points, nine rebounds, three assts and two steals to lead Concordia. This season, Lindahl is averaging 11.4 points per game with 4.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest while shooting 53.2 percent from the floor and 75 percent from the free throw line.

Concordia will enter a crucial seven-day stretch. The Cobbers will play at Bethel on Wednesday and then go to Gustavus on Saturday before returning home to host No.1-ranked St. Thomas.
