Road Woes Continue At Carleton
NORTHFIELD, Minn. (2/04/12)--Despite a career
performance from junior center Jason Huus,
Concordia continued their road woes during the 2011-12 season with
a 72-64 at Carleton on Saturday. Huus had a career-high 21 points
to go along with 12 rebounds as the Cobbers' saw their road record
to fall 1-10 on the year.
Concordia (7-14/5-11 MIAC) took a 15-12 lead midway through the
first half and then watched as the Knights went on a 19-4 run to
seize control of the game. The Cobbers trailed 36-27 at the break
and got to within two points on a pair of occasions in the second
half but could never regain the lead and lost by eight points.
Huus’ game-high 21 points furthers his recent streak of
games in double figures in scoring. He has now scored at least 10
points in six straight games. It was also Huus’ third
double-double of the season. Concordia had three other
starters in double figures. Junior point guard Dewon
McKenzie was 2-for-4 from 3-point range and had 13 points
while Ebo Nana-Kweson and Brandon
Fisher had 13 points each.
The statistics were very similar for both teams. Both teams made
28 field goals and the Cobbers had a slim two-rebound edge on the
boards. The big difference came behind the arc where Concordia was
4-for-18 (22.2%) and Carleton went 7-for-15 (46.7%).
Carleton (9-12/6-10 MIAC) had three of their five starting players
score at least 15 points. Scott Theisen went
7-for-10 and came away with a team-high 20 points.
Concordia will hope to snap their recent losing skid when they
return home to face St. Olaf on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 7:45 p.m.
