Golden Cobbs Award Winners

MOORHEAD, Minn. (4/19/18)--- The Concordia Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted the 6th annual Golden Cobbs award ceremony on Thursday night in Memorial Auditorium.

The Golden Cobbs are modeled after The ESPY awards and presented as a way to celebrate all the great accomplishments from the past year in Concordia athletics.

The awards ceremony was preceded by a special “red carpet” entrance where Concordia student/athletes to socialize and take pictures with their fellow Cobbers. Buffalo Wild Wings was one of the sponsors for the ceremony and supplied wings and chips for the entire crowd.

The awards ceremony featured 10 different category winners. In addition to the awards voted on by fans, family and friends – achievements in academics by the Concordia student/athletes were also recognized.

Here is a list of the award winners from the 6th annual Golden Cobbs awards:

Super Cobb (which honors athletic performance, classroom excellence and community involvement): Adam Frazier - Men's Track & Field/Football
Male Athlete of the Year: Chad Johnson - Football/Baseball 
Female Athlete of the Year: Emma Peterson – Women’s Track and Field
Newcomer of the Year: Callie Fagerstrom - Women's Hockey
Coach of the Year: Terry Horan - Football
Individual Best Moment: Nate Leintz - Baseball - Walkoff Grand Slam
Team Best Moment: Football vs. Wis.-Whitewater
Individual Performance of the Year: Chad Johnson - Football 
Game of the Year: Men's Hockey vs. Hamline
Upset of the Year: Volleyball vs. #11 Gustavus
