Golden Cobb Award Winners

MOORHEAD, Minn. (4/20/17)--- The Concordia Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted the 5th annual Golden Cobbs award ceremony on Thursday night in Memorial Auditorium.
The Golden Cobbs are modeled after The ESPY awards and presented as a way to celebrate all the great accomplishments from the past year in Concordia athletics.

The awards ceremony was preceded by a special “red carpet” entrance where Concordia student/athletes to socialize and take pictures with their fellow Cobbers. Buffalo Wild Wings was one of the sponsors for the ceremony and supplied wings and chips for the entire crowd.

The awards ceremony featured 11 different category winners. In addition to the awards voted on by fans, family and friends – achievements in academics by the Concordia student/athletes were also recognized.

Here is a list of the award winners from the 5th annual Golden Cobbs awards:

Super Cobb (which honors athletic performance, classroom excellence and community involvement): Chelsey Petrich – Women’s Hockey
Male Athlete of the Year: Jackson Schepp – Men’s Track and Field
Female Athlete of the Year: Emma Peterson – Women’s Track and Field
Newcomer of the Year: Sydney Roberts – Softball
Coach of the Year: Rich Glas – Men’s Basketball
Individual Most Dramatic/Historic Moment (Individual or Team Sport): Abigail Haraldson
Team Best Moment: Women’s Soccer at St. Mary’s
Individual Top Performance in a Single Event: Sarah Nelson – Women’s Swimming and Diving
Game of the Year: Football at Bethel
Upset of the Year: Men’s Basketball vs. Bethel
Comeback of the Year (Team or Individual): Jenna Januschka – Women’s Basketball
