Terry Horan Announces 2015 Recruiting Class
Concordia head coach Terry Horan has once again assembled a recruiting class that features quality and quantity. Horan released the majority of the 2015 recruiting class which includes 46 new student/athletes for the upcoming season.
"I am ecstatic with the quality of young men that are joining our program," commented Horan. The backbone of any successful program is being able to recruit high-level student/athletes and I believe we have added another tremendous recruiting class."
The Cobbers are coming off back-to-back-to-back eight-win seasons. Concordia has posted identical 8-2 overall records and 6-2 marks in conference play in 2012, 2013 and 2014. The three consecutive eight-win campaigns is the first time in school history that a team has achieved that feat.
The Concordia staff had a bumper class of incoming student/athletes from the state of Minnesota. Of the 46 new recruits, 32 hail from the land of 10,000 lakes.
"Recruiting is a total team effort," complimented Horan. "Our staff and current players did a phenomenal job with making our future Cobbers feel like Concordia is a place they can call home for the next four years."
The breakdown of the 46 future Cobbers includes nine linebackers, eight defensive backs and seven defensive linemen. On the offensive side of the ball Horan will welcome six offensive linemen, six wide receivers, four quarterbacks, three running backs and two fullbacks. There is also one kicker committed to play for CC in the fall.
Of the 46 incoming freshmen, 32 are from Minnesota, 10 hail from North Dakota with one each from South Dakota, Nevada, Arizona and Washington. Of the 32 from Minnesota, nine come from the Highway 10 corridor.
Concordia opens the 2015 season by hosting the University of Jamestown on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 1 p.m. at Jake Christiansen Stadium. The Cobbers will then play at Wis.-Eau Claire on Sept. 12 before returning home to play St. John 's in the MIAC opener on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 1 p.m.
