Adams Is Tested At Pro Scout Day

MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/10/14)—Concordia junior All-American Nate Adams was put through a rigor of tests as he worked out for scouts from the Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys. Adams will now have his information put into the NFL national scouting system for use by all 32 National Football League Teams.

"It is a big day for the program, commented head coach Terry Horan. "Any time you have scouts from NFL teams on campus to look at one of your players it is very exciting."

Horan started the process of getting Adams looked at by the Pro scouts when he sent in information about upcoming junior prospects. The scouts from the Vikings and Cowboys are the leads for a part of a pair of national scouting services.

Horan was then asked to send in video on Adams for the scouts to look at. Once they watched the film they contacted Horan to set up the testing day.

"It was nice to hear back from the scouts after I sent in the video," said Horan. "Nate has a great motor and I think has a very high upside."

Adams had a standout season last fall after transferring to Concordia from Bemidji State. He earned Al-American honors from D3football.com after receiving the Mike Stam Award from the MIAC as the league's top lineman.

Adams started at defensive end for the Cobbers in all 10 games in 2013. He led the league in sacks and tackles for a loss. In addition to the Stam award, Adams was also placed on the All-MIAC First Team.

Adams finished the season with 9.0 sacks and 17.5 tackles for a loss. He was in the top 40 of the nation in both statistical categories. Adams led the team in total tackles with 69 and had 46 solo tackles. He had a share of at least one sack in seven of the team's 10 games this year and had at least one tackle for a loss in all but one contest.

At the end of the workout sessions - which included strength tests, 40-yard dash time and the Wonderlic Test – Adams was told by the scouts to enjoy his senior season with his teammates. They told Adams the about a player in a similar position last year. The scouts talked with the player after this year's NFL combine and he couldn't believe how quickly the year had gone by.
