Cobbers Remain In Top 25

MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/05/12)—Concordia remained in the top 25 in both major polls despite their 14-point loss to No.3-ranked St. Thomas on Saturday. The Cobbers are now ranked 23rd in both the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) poll and the D3football.com rankings.

Concordia dropped seven spots in the AFCA poll and fell only six positions in the D3football rankings. The Cobbers are now receiving 158 votes in the coaches' rankings and 127 in the D3football poll.

Concordia is currently 7-2 with one game remaining in the regular season. The Cobbers are 5-2 in conference play as they head into the final game. CC was ranked fifth in the NCAA West Region rankings last week and continue to hold on to the possibility of postseason play. Concordia will need to beat Gustavus on Saturday, Nov. 10 and then hope for other teams in the region to lose their final game.

The Cobbers are currently ranked in the top 45 in the nation in four different statistical categories. Concordia is ranked highest in rushing offense. CC is 19th in that category as they average 250.44 yards per game. Concordia is also 31st in rushing defense (100.67 yds/gm), 38th in passing efficiency (152.10) and 42nd in scoring offense (34.67 pts/gm).

If the Cobber can manage to win their final regular-season game at Gustavus they will have eight overall victories which is the most since the 2005 season.
