Neal Named MIAC Offensive Player Of The Week

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/29/12)—Concordia sophomore quarterback Griffin Neal was named the MIAC Offensive Player of the Week following his five-touchdown performance against Carleton on Saturday.

It is the first conference weekly award for Neal and he becomes the fourth Cobber player to earn MIAC Player of the Week honors this season.

Neal threw for over 250 yards and three TD's and ran for 40-plus yards and two scored in the Cobbers' 51-27 win over the Knights in Moorhead. Neal amassed almost 300 total offensive yards and did not commit a turnover in helping CC win their third consecutive game.

In addition to his individual statistics, Neal guided the Concordia offense to 474 total yards and was the catalyst behind the team scoring in their six possessions of the game. He led four drives of over 60 yards as CC took a 42-13 lead at the end of the second quarter.

Neal finished the game by going 10-for-18 in passing attempts and threw for 257 yards. It was the second straight week he has thrown for over 250 yards. Neal also had a pass efficiency rating of 230.49 which marks the third time this season he has topped the 200.00 milestone. Neal also ran for 41 yards on 10 carries.

Neal has passed for 1300 yards in the team's first eight games of the year. He has thrown for 16 TD's, has a completion percentage of 62.2 and a pass efficiency rating of 178.4. He is currently ranked third in the MIAC in touchdown passes and fourth in completion percentage.

Neal, and the rest of the Cobbers, will square off against No.3-ranked St. Thomas on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m.
