Bornhauser Is NCBWA National Player Of The Week

MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/12/15)—The dream spring break trip finally finished for Cobber senior Nick Bornhauser as he was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division III National Player of the Week.

Bornhauser is believed to be the first Concordia player to earn the prestigious national weekly honor.

The final award comes on the heels of Bornhauser being named to the D3baseball.com National Team of the Week and the MIAC Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.

Bornhauser earned all three weekly awards by going 7-for-8 in the two games he played in for Concordia. Of the seven hits he had four doubles and a triple. He drove in five runs and scored four times. He finished the week with an .875 batting average, an .899 on-base percentage and a 1.625 slugging percentage.

In addition to Bornhauser's galactic batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage, he was also 4-for-4 with runners in scoring position, 6-for-6 with runners on base and 3-for-3 with two outs.

Bornhauser was just as good on defense as he cleanly fielded all 19 chances that came his way. He has not made an error in the 69 chances this season.

Bornhauser leads the MIAC in batting average (.643), on-base percentage (.706), slugging percentage (.929), runs (14) and hits (18), ranks second in doubles (six), triples (one) and is fourth in RBI (11) and total bases (26).

Bornhauser will look to continue his hot hitting ways when the Cobbers play at Nebraska Wesleyan for a pair of doubleheaders on Mar. 21-22.
