The Honors Just Keep Coming For Bornhauser

MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/10/15)—Concordia senior first baseman Nick Bornhauser continues to reap the benefits of his torrid hitting to start the season. A day after being named the MIAC Player of the Week for the second straight week, Bornhauser was named to the D3baseball.com National Team of the Week.   

Bornhauser becomes only the second Concordia player to earn the national weekly award since D3baseball.com started the award back in 2012. Jackson Meland earned the award last year for pitching a complete game on Mar. 28 to help former Cobber head coach Bucky Burgau earn his 700th career win.

Bornhauser has been flaming hot at the plate this season and last week's games were no exception. He played in two of the team's three games and went 7-for-8. Bornhauser's numbers for the week were a an .875 batting average, an .899 on-base percentage and a 1.625 slugging percentage. He calmly collected up seven hits, five RBI, four doubles, four runs and a triple in just two games.  

Looking deeper inside the numbers makes Bornhauser's week even more impressive. He was was 4-for-4 with runners in scoring position, 6-for-6 with runners on base and 3-for-3 with two outs. He was also perfect in the field on 19 chances, and has handled all 69 of his chances without error thus far in 2015.

Bornhauser leads the MIAC in batting average (.643), on-base percentage (.706), slugging percentage (.929), runs (14) and hits (18), ranks second in doubles (six), triples (one) and is fourth in RBI (11) and total bases (26).

Bornhauser will look to continue his hot hitting ways when the Cobbers play at Nebraska Wesleyan for a pair of doubleheaders on Mar. 21-22.
