Olson And Guler Named To All-Region Teams

MOORHEAD, Minn. (6/01/12)—Michael Olson and Brian Guler earned American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Region honors it was announced on Friday. Olson was named to the All-Midwest Region Third Team and Guler was the region's Gold Glove winner at first base.

Olson and Guler helped Concordia finish with an 18-20 overall record in 2012. The Cobbers had a 9-11 mark in conference play. CC has now had 18 players earn All-Region awards in the last 10 years.

Olson, the team's starting center fielder, led the team in hitting in 2012. He finished the year with a .367 average and played in 37 of the team's 38 games. He also led the Cobbers in doubles (16) and runs scored (26) and was tied for the lead in stolen bases (7). Olson hit safely in 29 games in 2012 and had a team-high 16-game hitting streak that lasted from the end of March to the end of April. Olson also recorded 13 multiple-hit games during the year and had six multiple-RBI contests.

Olson has a career .335 average for the Cobbers. He has five home runs and 42 career RBI.

Guler adds the All-Region Gold Glove Award to the MIAC All-Defensive Team honor he earned at the end of the conference season. He did not commit an error as the team's starting first baseman. He played in all 38 games for the Cobbers. He fielded 324 chances without making a miscue. He had 310 put outs and 14 assists. At the plate, Guler hit .248 and led the team in triples with three.
