Cobbers Drop Fall Opener To Knights

MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/22/24)---The Cobbers lost their fall season opener to perennial MIAC powerhouse Carleton 9-0 on Sunday at the Concordia Tennis Complex.

Concordia's closest matches of the day came at the Top 2 doubles bouts and from the new No.1 singles player Isaac Maddock.

The Cobbers' top doubles duo of Maddock and Kai Pierce battled until the end of their match at No.1 doubles before losing 8-4.    

Concordia's No.2 doubles tandem of Logan Sandberg and Kai Kringlie fell by an identical 8-4 score line. Neither of the Top 2 doubles teams were able to come up with key breaks during the matches.

Maddock had a solid performance in his first match as the No.1 singles player. He fell 6-3, 6-4 to All-Conference player Jasper Yang.

Sophomore Daniel Skrade came away with the most games from the five other singles bouts. He fell 6-4, 6-1 in the No.6 singles spot.

Concordia will continue with its fall schedule when they play at the annual ITA Regional Meet held at Gustavus on Sept. 27-29.
