New Goal Scorers Lead CC in 2nd Game

MILWAUKEE, Minn. (11/02/19)---Concordia gave up two unanswered goals in the final 11 minutes of the third period and lost 4-2 at Milwaukee School of Engineering.

The Cobbers finish the opening weekend of the 2019-20 season with a pair of losses while the Raiders win both of their games against MIAC opponents to start the year.

It didn't take the Cobbers to break their scoreless season streak. After being blanked on Friday, senior Aaron Ryback gave Concordia a 1-0 lead just 1:10 into the game. His first collegiate goal was assisted by Blake Berg and Beau Wilmer.

The Cobbers would take a 1-0 lead into the first break despite being outshot 10-3. Junior goalie Cam Haugenoe turned aside all 10 shots he faced to keep CC in the lead.

The Raiders scored a pair of even-strength goals in the second frame and took a 2-1 lead into the final period of play.

Concordia broke another early-season scoring drought at the start of the third period when junior transfer Christian Cakebread scored on the power play. CC went 0-for-7 on the power play in the opener on Friday and then missed on their first three chances in the first and second periods against MSOE.

The power play tied the game at 2-2 when Cakebread got his first goal in maroon and gold at the 3:42 mark. Jacen Bracko picked up his second point of the weekend with 2019 All-American Tyler Bossert also earning an assist on the play.

The Raiders would get the game winner at 9:03 and then added an insurance marker on the power play at 16:25.

Concordia put up 25 shots on goal in the game and was led by Cakebread who had three shots in the game. CC had eight players with two shots each in the game.

Haugenoe made 31 saves in his season debut.
