MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/01/24)---Concordia got off to a great start on its annual Senior Celebration Night, but couldn't sustain that momentum and lost 3-1 (19-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-15) to St. Olaf.
The Cobbers won the battle of the first set by posting four straight points after the score was tied at 17-17. CC then finished off the set by claiming three of the final four points. Concordia hit .351 in the opening set which would be their high-water mark for the match.
St. Olaf (18-8, 5-4 MIAC) led for the entire second set and pulled off the same feat in the fourth set to come away with the overall win.
Concordia finished the night with a .152 attack percentage, while the Oles hit .233. CC had 44 kills, which is the fourth-highest total in the season.
Mallory Leitner posted team-highs in kills and attack percentage. She recorded 15 winners and hit .359. Leitner was the only CC player with more than seven kills in the match.
First-year setter Betsy Schiltz had 32 assists. It is the third time this season she has reached the 30-assist mark.
Hanna Mooney led the defense with 19 digs. She was one of four CC players with a double-digit dig total for the match. Elizabeth Naugle and Cayla Sailer both recorded 14 digs and Kelsi Martini added 12.
Concordia will finish off its home schedule when they host St. Benedict on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m.
