Cobbers Finish Off Road Weekend

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (10/23/21)---Concordia finished their final road weekend doubleheader of the season by losing to St. Olaf 3-0 (18-25, 13-25, 24-26).

The Cobbers' best chance for a set win came in the third when they had a 19-18 lead. The Oles won the next three points to take a 21-19 advantage, but then CC rallied to win three of the next four points to tie the set at 22-22. The teams would trade points for the next four points, and then St. Olaf put the match away by winning two straight after the score was tied at 24-24.

Concordia (8-16, 1-8 MIAC) improved their attack percentage in every set. They started at .062 in the opening set, moved to .097 in the middle bout and then finished with a .195 mark in the final set.

The Cobbers hit .125 for the three sets and had 26 kills in 104 attempts.

St. Olaf (11-12, 6-3 MIAC) had a .238 attack percentage for the match. They posted 47 winners in 122 attack attempts.

Anna Brakke and Brook Carney both had eight kills to lead Concordia. Carney hit .200 as did freshman Hannah Keil who finished with six winners.

Karlie Goschen and Chloe Markovic had 13 digs each. Markovic also had three service aces.

Mariah Iwen led CC with 16 assists, while Kenzie Urbanec had nine assists and three aces.

Kendra Wiggs and Peyton Selle combined for nine kills as CC held a 6-4 edge in total team blocks.

UP NEXT: Concordia will finish off the 2021 season when they play at Hamline on Friday, Oct. 29 and then host St. Benedict on Saturday, Oct. 30.
