Season-Best Kill Margin Leads To Win

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (10/02/15)—Concordia hit .212 and held a 45-19 advantage in kills against St. Olaf as the Cobbers rolled to a 25-17, 25-19, 25-20 sweep to earn their fifth straight victory.

Concordia's 26-kill advantage margin is the largest of the season in a single match. The Cobbers' dominant play around the net helped the team up its overall record to 11-3. Concordia also remains unbeaten in conference play and moves to 4-0. The Cobbers are one of three unbeaten teams in league play.

Concordia has now won six of its past seven matches and nine of the past 11.

The Cobbers trailed only once in the first set at 1-0 and used a 6-3 run midway through the set to cruise to the 25-17 win. Concordia broke open the second set with a 9-4 run at the end to push a 16-15 lead to a 25-19 victory. The teams went back-and-forth in the final set before Concordia won four straight points after holding a 21-20 lead and clinched the match with the 25-20 win.

Concordia's .212 attack percentage marks the third time in the last four matches that the team has finished with a hitting percentage over .200. It is the fifth total .200-plus attack percentage match for CC.

The 19 kills by the Oles is a season low for a Cobber opponent. St. Olaf only had four winners in the final set.

Olivia Wangensteen was the only player in the match with more than eight kills on the night. She finished with 11 winners and hit .217. It is the third time in the past four matches she has hit over .200 and has now had double-digit kill totals in four of the past seven matches.
