Cobbers Tune Up For MIAC Meet At NDSU

FARGO, N.D. (5/3/24)---Concordia finished off the "regular season" by competing in Fargo at the North Dakota State Bison Tune-Up Meet.

The Cobbers came away with a trio of program Top 5 marks as they prepared for the MIAC Championship Meet next weekend.

On a day when the shorter races were downwind, it was the Cobber sprint crew who used the tailwind to their advantage as they posted all three Top 5 marks.

Emily Rengo was a part of all three Top 5 marks. She recorded personal-best times in the 100 and 200 meters and was a member of the 4x100-meter relay team that recorded the fifth-fastest time in school history.

Rengo started her day by running the second leg of the 4x100-meter relay team. She was joined by Andie Sandman, Piper Osborne and Kyla Nygaard and the quartet crossed the line in a time of 49.30. That mark is No.5 on the program's all-time list and No.4 in the conference this year.

Rengo then moved to the individual races and clocked a 12.45 in the 100-meter dash which earned her a second-place finish. Rengo's time is No.4 on the school's all-time list and fifth fastest in the MIAC this season. Rengo ended her day by racing in the 200 meters. She added a second "PR" to her day by speeding to a finishing time of 25.50. That mark is the third fastest in school history and jumps her into the No.4 spot in the conference this year.

Osborne also posted a personal best time in the 200 meters. She was right behind Rengo with a time of 26.19 which is No.9 in the MIAC this year and 16th in program history.

Osborne was also sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 33-04.75.

First-year thrower Genevieve Gruba came away with the top field finish of the meet for the Cobbers. She recorded a distance of 122-05 on a rain-soaked runway on Thursday afternoon and was third in the event.

Fellow first-year athlete Reagan Wohlers earned the fifth CC Top 20 mark for the meet. She cleared 9-02.25 in the pole vault. That mark is a PR and No.16 for the Cobbers. It will also earn her a spot in next weekend's conference championship meet.

UP NEXT: Concordia will head to St. Paul to compete in the MIAC Meet on May 10-11 at Hamline University.
