Cobbers Place Third At St. Ben's Invitational

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (2/10/24)---Concordia competed in its first mostly Division III multi-team invitational and came away with a third-place team finish at the St. Ben's Invitational held at St. John's University.

The Cobbers had six athletes post Top 3 finishes which led to CC accumulating a total of 103.5 team points. That mark was good for third place in a meet that featured seven different teams and four MIAC schools.

Sprinters Jenna Kalevik and Emily Rengo led the Cobber track contingent. Kalevik placed second in the 60-meter hurdles with a mark of 9.34. That finishing time in the finals is tied for third place on the Concordia all-time list. Kalevik also scored team points in the long jump and high jump.

Rengo posted a Top 3 finish and a Top 5 finish in the sprint events in Collegeville. She was third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.06 and fourth in the 200 meters by crossing the line in 27.34.

Kyla Nygaard
and Drew Frolek had the other Top 3 track finishes for CC. Nygaard recorded a personal best time in the 400 meters with a time of 59.96, which was good for third place. That time is the third fastest in the MIAC this year and also No.6 on the school's all-time list.

Frolek was third in the 1000 meters with a season-best time of 3:09.02. Her mark is a season best and puts her in the Top 15 of the MIAC.

She went over the 33-foot mark for the first time in her career when she posted a distance of 33-00.50 on her very first attempt. That is No.11 in the conference this season.
