Top 5 And All-Time School Marks Aplenty At UND Open

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (1/27/24)---Concordia headed north for its first away meet of the 2024 indoor season and came away with eight Top 5 finishes and five all-time Cobber marks at the UND Open.

The Cobbers' best event of the afternoon came in the 300 meters where the trio of Kyla Nygaard, Emily Rengo and Emily Larsen posted a 3-4-5 finish. Nygaard led the way with a time of 42.60 and placed third. Rengo was fourth after crossing the line at 42.82 and Larsen ran a 46.49 to come home in fifth place.

The top field event for Concordia took place in the once-in-a-season indoor discus event. CC had three athletes record Top 10 all-time marks in program history. Junior Laura Fuller opened her day by unleashing a throw of 107-09, which was the fifth farthest in school history.

Cailey Schlosser and Ella Shinn were right behind Fuller. Schlosser started the event with fouls in her first two attempts but then came through with a distance of 106-03 in her third and final attempt. That mark is No.7 on the school's all-time list. Shinn also made her top mark on her third try. She had a distance of 90-0 on her second throw and bested that with a mark of 97-10 on her final attempt. That distance is the 10th farthest in school history.

The other Concordia Top 10 marks were dropped by Peyton Selle and Lydia Fynboh.

Selle's Top 10 distance came in the triple jump where she recorded a personal-best mark of 35-08.50. That distance is No.9 on the Cobber all-time list and is currently sixth best in the MIAC this year.

Selle also had a No.6 conference mark in the long jump. She posted a distance of 16-10.50 on her second attempt and finished 12th in the event that had 25 competitors.

Fynboh used her speed to climb into the Top 10 in the 60-meter dash, where she clocked an 8.17 in the second preliminary heat. Her time is the 10th fastest in school history. It is also No.10 in the conference this year.

First-year runner Beth Ellis had the only event win for the Cobbers. It came in the 3-competitor 300-meter hurdles – another event that is rarely run. Ellis crossed the line first in a time of 54.72. She was able to beat out teammate Izzy Johnson, who finished third in a time of 59.34.

Meg Shercliffe came through with an MIAC Top 10 time in the 600 meters. Shercliffe placed fourth out of 14 athletes at UND with a converted time of 1:42.18. Her mark is No.8 in the conference this season.
