Selle Continues Stockpiling MIAC Multi-Event Titles

ST. PAUL, Minn. (2/24/23)---If there was ever a doubt before about who the best athlete in the MIAC was, Peyton Selle dropped the mic on that argument by winning her fourth consecutive MIAC mutli-event title.

Selle has now won two straight MIAC pentathlon titles to go along with a pair of outdoor heptathlon championships.

Selle started slowly, but then found her high gear midway through the MIAC pentathlon and won the event by 30 points. Selle finished with 3,240 points which is a career best and the No.12 total in Division III this season.

Selle's final total is also No.3 on the Cobbers' all-time list and should get her a spot at the NCAA National Meet. It is also a 142-point improvement over her winning total in 2022.

Cobber sophomore Jenna Kalevik also posted a personal best score. She finished in sixth place with a total of 2,711 points.

Selle started her title defense by posting a time of 9.60 in the 60-meter hurdles which earned her 789 points. That point total was the highest of the five events. Her time was just behind her season best of 9.32 which she recorded at the CSB Invite on Feb. 11.

Selle's two other 600-point plus events came in the high jump and the 800 meters. She posted a height of 5-01.00 in the high jump, which was the second event of the day and amassed 678 points. Her finishing height tied for the top mark among the 12 competitors. Selle's height of 5-01.00 was a season best and only .25 off her career best.

The final event of the pentathlon was the 800 meters and Selle won the overall title by clocking a season-best time of 2:34.53 which gave her 637 points and was close enough to the second-place finisher that she couldn't get bypassed for the win.

Kalevik's top point total came in the opener when she ran a 9.62 in the 60-meter hurdles and picked up 785 points. Her time was a career best.

Kalevik also scored over 600 points in the high jump where she cleared the bar at 4-11.75, finished third in the event and recorded 644 points. Her height was also a career-best mark.
