Status Quo For Cobbers On Day 2 At MIAC Indoor Meet

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (02/26/22)---It was status quo for Concordia on Day 2 at the MIAC Indoor Championship meet. The Cobbers started the day in seventh place and finished Saturday in seventh place.

Concordia started the day with 36 total team points and finished with 60. They were 24 points clear of Macalester who finished in eighth place and only five shy of Hamline for sixth place.

The majority of the Cobber team points on Saturday came from the throw trio of Cayle Hovland, Allyson Kangas and Jacey Schlosser. On Friday, the three scored team points in the weight throw, and they duplicated that feat on Saturday.

Hovland duplicated her runner-up finish in the weight throw by placing second in the shot put. She came up with a distance of 44-01.25 on her fourth attempt – and was only 10.25 inches away from the top spot in the conference. Her final distance was a season-best mark and moves her into the No.17 spot in the nation – which could earn her a trip the DIII national meet.

Kangas was fourth in the shot put, after placing sixth in the weight throw. Kangas' best distance came on her very last attempt when she put up a mark of 43-01.00.

Schlosser upped her team points in the shot put from her eighth-place finish in the weight throw. She posted a season-best distance of 41-00.25 on her third attempt to come away with sixth place.

Drew Frolek and Isabel Fredrickson were the lone track athletes to score points for CC on Saturday. Frolek ran a 1:40.63 and placed fifth in the 600 meters.

Fredrickson backed up her sixth-place finish in the mile, by racing to an eighth-place finish in the 1000 meters. She crossed the line in a season-best time of 3:06.95.

The top relay for the Cobbers on Saturday was the 4x200-meter relay squad of Carlie Heinecke, Nicole Lilleberg, Meg Shercliffe and Mary Wunderlich. They ran a time of 1:51.46 which was a season-best time by 1.99 seconds.
