Forness Starts Multi-Event Career

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (2/27/20)---Freshman Lauren Forness began her collegiate multi-event career by finishing 13th at the MIAC heptathlon which starts the MIAC Indoor Championship Meet.

Forness scored 2,582 points over the span of the five events at St. John's University. It was the first time she competed in a full multi-event competition for the Cobbers.

Forness started the meet by posting her best point total of the afternoon. She ran a 9.49 in the 60-meter hurdles to earn 810 points. It was the second fastest time of the competitors and a personal best time. It is also the ninth best time in all of the MIAC this year.

Forness showed her experience in the track events as the only other 500-point plus event came in the 800 meters. She crossed the line in a time of 2:44.52 in the final event of the pentathlon and scored 522 points.

Forness scored in the 400's in both the high jump and shot put. She recorded a season-best distance of 28-07.00 in the shot put which earned her 445 points and totaled 419 points in the high jump when she cleared 4-03.50.

Forness will join the rest of the Cobbers when they compete in the MIAC Indoor Championship Meet on Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, Feb. 29 at St. John's in Collegeville.
