More Hardware For Peterson

MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/18/17)--- Emma Peterson continues to fill her trophy case.

After winning the high jump and setting an MIAC record in the triple jump at the conference meet the senior was named the MIAC Outstanding Field Athlete as well as earning Outstanding Performance-of-the-Meet honors.

The two awards follow Peterson's MIAC Outstanding Field Athlete honor at the conference indoor meet in February.

Peterson has also earned All-American honors in the high jump at the 2016 NCAA National Outdoor Meet and the 2017 NCAA National Indoor Meet.

Peterson capped off her conference career by winning the high jump and triple jump at last weekend's MIAC Outdoor Championship Meet.

Peterson also won the high jump and triple jump at the conference indoor meet to become the first Cobber in program history to win the same two events at the MIAC indoor and outdoor meets in the same season.

Peterson started her final day of the outdoor meet by clearing 5-06.5 in the high jump. That height was over three inches better than the next competitor. She then moved over to the triple jump pit where she decided to set another conference record. Peterson saved her best for last as she recorded a winning distance of 39-10.50 on her very final attempt of the final round. Her distance bettered the old conference record of 38-09.00 set by former Cobber Hilary Thompson in 2014.

Peterson is currently tied for the fifth best height in the high jump in Division III. She posted a school-record mark of 5-07.75 at the Drake Relays on Apr.26. Peterson also holds the No.7 mark in the nation in the triple jump with her distance at the MIAC Meet.

Both of Peterson's top marks in the high jump and triple jump will qualify her for the NCAA National Outdoor Meet on May 25-27 at the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio.
