Solid Saturday On Final Day Of MIAC Meet

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (2/17/24)---It was a Solid Saturday for the Cobbers on the final day of the MIAC Championship Meet. Concordia came away with a group of personal record marks as they finished eighth in the final team standings.

Junior diver Kiernan Darling led the way for Cobbers on Saturday. She finished ninth in the 3-meter event and recorded a PR score along the way. Darling came through with a total of 312.60 points in the prelims of the 3-meter competition. It marked the first time in her career that she had gone above 300 points in a 3-meter event. Her 9th-place finish is also a top mark for Darling at an MIAC Meet.

Christina Moore, Madelyn Barlage and Royce Nhantumbo all put up personal-best times on the final day of the meet. Moore clocked a 2:30.42 in the 200-yard backstroke. That time was7 seconds faster than her previous season-best mark.

Barlage and Nhantumbo recorded their top times in the 100-yard freestyle. Barlage entered the meet with a season-best time of 1:11.06 and she cut that down by over 8 seconds when she touched the wall in 1:02.65. Nhantumbo erased 2.90 seconds off her previous best mark and came home in 1:20.05.

Senior Rachel Andersen recorded a huge season-best time in the 1650-yard freestyle. She clipped over 1:30 off her previous best during the year when she clocked a 22:31.61 in the first event of the evening session.

The Cobbers closed out the 2024 MIAC Meet in style by racing to a season-best time of 3:49.67 in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The crew of Callie Metsala, Hailey Jaeger, Tinsley Porter and Brienna Timm all had quality swims for CC. Porter also recorded the first sub-1-minute split in her career.
