Metsala Goes On Record-Breaking Binge At MIAC Meet

Concordia sophomore Callie Metsala recently capped her season with a record-breaking binge that spanned four days. Metsala set five program records, including three individual, during the four-day Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships, which concluded this past weekend in Minneapolis.

Concordia broke six school records on nine different occasions as they posted their best finish at an MIAC Meet since 2011.

It was record-setting business as usual for the Cobbers on the final day of the MIAC Championship Meet. Concordia put a new school record on the board for the fourth straight day as they capped off their best conference meet finish in 14 years.

A Good Case Of "Recorditis"

The Cobbers have a good case of “recorditis” at the MIAC Championship Meet and it’s very contagious. Concordia started the conference meet by breaking one school record on Wednesday. They followed that with three more records on Thursday and decided to go full epidemic by breaking three more program records on Friday.

Make it three school records broken for the Cobbers on Day 2 at the MIAC Championship Meet. Less than 24 hours after Concordia’s 200-yard medley relay team set a new program mark, the Cobbers had three individual school records busted at the conference meet.

Concordia finished off their “regular season” by celebrating their five seniors during their final dual meet of the year. Rachel Bringle, Maddi Barlage, Kiernan Darling, Hailey Jaeger and Haley Imholte were honored by the Cobbers amidst their meet with DII University of Mary on Saturday.

Concordia finished off the 2024 portion of its schedule by finishing fourth at the Roger Ahlman Invite hosted by Macalester. The Cobbers had seven Top 10 individual finishes in a meet that featured some of the top teams in the MIAC.

Kiernan Darling posted the highest finish of any Cobber athlete at the WildBear Invite. She finished fifth in the 1-meter dive event.

Callie Metsala posted MIAC Top 10 marks in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard freestyle to lead Concordia at the Jamestown Knight Invite. CC had five athletes post Top 10 finishes at the meet.

Concordia finished third at the St. Kate's Pentathlon. CC had five athletes swim in all five events and Kiernan Darling won the 1-meter event.

If the opening meet is any sign of things to come, it’s going to be an exciting year for the Cobbers.Kiernan Darling won the 1-meter diving competition and Callie Metsala recorded four Top 5 finishes which led to Concordia posting a third-place finish at the St. Catherine Pentathlon.
