Darling, Metsala & Jaeger Lead Cobbers At Morris

MORRIS, Minn. (11/3/23)---Kiernan Darling, Callie Metsala and Hailey Jaeger led Concordia at their double dual meet against Minn.-Morris and Southwest MN State at Morris.

The trio combined to record the three event wins and a quintet of Top 5 finishes as the Cobbers fell 139-81 to the host Cougars and 163-63 to the DII Mustangs.

Darling impressed in the second meet of the year in both diving competitions. She won the 1-meter event with a season-best score of 206.05 and backed that up with a score of 189.75 in her very first 3-meter competition. Last year, Darling scored 156.30 in her first 6-dive, 3-meter event, which came in mid-January.

Darling's score in the 1-meter is the sixth best in the MIAC this year, while her 3-meter mark is No.7 on the list.

Metsala continues to impress in her first year as a Cobber. She posted the only swimming event win for CC when she clocked a 27.10 in the 50-yard butterfly. That was almost a full second in front of the second-place finisher and is the second-fastest time in the MIAC this year. Metsala was also third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:06.73. That mark is in the Top 20 of the conference.

Jaeger's only individual event on the day was the 50-yard freestyle, where she touched the wall in a season-best time of 26.71.

Jaeger was also a part of the two Cobber relays. The top performance came from the quartet of Jaeger, Haley Juetten, Metsala and Brienna Timm, who clocked a 4:33.47 in the 400-yard medley relay. That time is faster than any other mark a CC team posted before the MIAC Meet in all of last year.

First-year swimmer Chea Baugh was fourth in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:29.47. She was also seventh in the 50-yard butterfly with a season-best time of 31.24.

The other Top 5 finish turned in by the Cobber came from sophomore Christina Moore in the 50-yard backstroke. She touched the wall in 32.58, which was only .36 of a second out of a Top 3 finish.
