Cobbers Finish Off 2021 In Bismarck

MOORHEAD, Minn. (12/04/21)--- Alexandra Rasmussen won the 50-yard butterfly and placed third in the 50-yard freestyle to lead Concordia in their dual meet at the University of Mary. The Cobbers couldn't match the depth of the Marauders and fell 160-96 in the final competition of 2021.

Rasmussen's finishes were a part of a quintet of Top 3 marks for the Cobber swim crew at the meet. In addition to the swimming performances, freshman diver Kiernan Darling had her best meet of the season. She posted her season-best point total in the 1-meter event and then competed in her very first collegiate 3-meter event.

Rasmussen won the 50-yard butterfly by pulling away from the competition in the second length of the event. She touched the wall in a season-best time of 28.61 which was .62 of a second in front of the runner-up finisher. Rasmussen also clocked a 26.26 in the 50-yard freestyle.

Camille Gunderson, Kaitlin Cramer and Jess Bray had the other Top 3 finishes at the meet for CC. Gunderson was runner-up in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 32.56, while Cramer was second in the 100-yard backstroke. Cramer finished with a time of 1:07.50. That time was almost a full 4-seconds faster than the third-place finisher.

Bray's Top 3 mark came in the 100-yard freestyle where she raced home in a time of 1:00.29. She touched the wall 1.97 seconds ahead of teammate Brienna Timm.

A pair of Cobber relay teams posted season-best times. The quartet of Cramer, Hailey Jaeger, Bray and Rasmussen swam a 2:02.66 in the meet-opening 200-yard medley relay. Jaeger, Bray and Rasmussen then teamed with Gunderson to finish second in the meet-ending 200-yard freestyle relay. The team had a season-best time of 1:47.07.                         
  
UP NEXT: Concordia will now take time off for finals and Christmas break before returning to the pool and prepare for the MSU Moorhead Dragon Open on Jan. 14-15 at the Hilbert Aquatic Center in West Fargo.
