Warren Breaks Own School Record

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (2/16/18)---Concordia freshman Amy Warren started the MIAC Championship Meet by breaking her own school record in the 200-yard individual medley. She also posted the highest finish by any Cobber athlete on Day 1 of the conference meet.

In the first prelim session Warren broke her own school record in the 200-yard individual medley by racing to a 2:17.13. That time was almost a full second faster than her previous school record of 2:18.03 which she set earlier in the season. Warren's time didn't get her into the B final race as she finished 20th in the event. It was the highest finish for CC athlete on Day 1 of the meet.

Warren's time was less than a second from qualifying for the B final in the event and getting into the Top 16.

The only other Top 26 finish of the opening day was turned in by fellow first-yaer swimmer Anna Backes who clocked a season-best 25.65 and finished 26th in the 50-yard freestyle.

The top Cobber relay team for the opening day was the 400-yard medley relay squad of Warren, Ciara White, Ann Marie O'Connell and Backes who finished eighth with a season-best time of 4:17.40

WHAT'S NEXT: Concordia will look to have an athlete qualify for one of the final events on Day 2 at the MIAC Championship Meet on Friday, Feb. 16 at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. The prelim races start at 10:30 a.m. while the finals are slated for 6:30 p.m.
