Cobbers Fall At Home Against Gustavus

MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/14/12)—Despite winning a pair of swimming individual events and both sections of the 1-meter diving competition Concordia fell 180-105 to Gustavus on Saturday. The Cobbers also came away with 10 top 3 finishes as they celebrated the annual Senior Day.   

Kirsten Anderson and Hannah Winge claimed the victories in the swimming events while Molly Hansvick came with the victories in the diving competition for the Cobbers. Anderson swam a 26.43 in the 50-yard freestyle and Winge posted a mark of 2:43.22 in the 200-yard breaststroke. Hansvick had a score of 148.90 in the voluntaries portion of diving and then finished with 213.95 points in the optionals section.

Greta Titus, Jessie Obrecht and Mara Smith recorded runner-up finishes in swimming events and Alison Hall was second in both diving events. Titus claimed second place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:10.98. Obrecht's time of 1:20.81 in the 100-yard breaststroke and Smith's mark of 3:07.64 in the 200-yard individual medley were also good for runner-up finishes.

The Cobbers' next competition will come at the Concordia/MSU Moorhead Invite on Jan. 20-21 on the campus of MSU Moorhead.
