Bio

Quincy Osborn was promoted to head coach for the Cobber wrestling program in the spring of 2019. Osborn was originally hired in the summer of 2016 as the team's full-time assistant coach and spent three seasons in that role before being named the head coach.

Osborn brings an unbelievable background in the sport to the Cobbers program. He was an NCAA Division III national champion while wrestling for Augsburg and was a two-time Division I NCAA national meet participant at the University of Minnesota.   

“Coach Q” began his coaching journey at Augsburg as an assistant coach. He coached with the Auggies for two years and then went on to become the assistant at Division I Ohio University. He coached with the Bobcats for four years and then became the assistant coach at the State University of New York at Buffalo which is also a Division I program. In 2014 he earned his first head coaching position when he was hired by Lakeland University.

As a wrestler Osborn has been highly successful at every level of competition. He was a two-time MN class AAA state champion and also had a state runner-up finish while competing for Grand Rapids High School. He went 46-0 in his senior year and recorded an impressive 87-2 record in his final two seasons of high school. He was named as a Wrestling USA Magazine High School All-American, he was a national runner-up at USA Wrestling Junior Nationals and a NHSCA Senior Nationals All-American.

Osborn started his collegiate journey by wrestling at the University of Minnesota. He redshirted and then lettered two times for the Golden Gophers. Osborn qualified twice for the NCAA National Championships by placing in the top six at the Big Ten Championships. As a freshman he was sixth at 133 pounds and as a sophomore he placed fifth at 149 pounds. He then transferred to Augsburg University, where he was the Division III National Champion at 141 pounds, also leading the Auggies to the national team title. In that season, he had the most team points, takedowns, and falls.

Osborn earned his bachelor's degree in history from Augsburg in 2009 and then went on to obtain his master's degree in the Science of Recreation and Sport from Ohio University in 2011. He is also a graduate of the NWCA Coaching Leadership Academy.

Quincy and his wife Hannah live in Moorhead with their three children, Cleopatra, Victoria and Aesop.
