Presler Named Academic All-American
MOORHEAD, Minn. (6/06/17)---Concordia student/athlete Adam Presler finished off his impressive junior season by earning College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American honors. The CoSIDA award is the highest Academic All-American honor a student/athlete can achieve as it recognizes both top academic and athletic achievement.
The Academic All-American honor follows Presler's NCAA Elite 90 award which he won following the NCAA National Meet for having the highest grade point average of any student/athlete at the national meet.
Presler, who is a Mathematics Education major with a 4.00 grade point average, becomes the first Cobber wrestler to earn CoSIDA Academic All-American honors. Concordia has now had 13 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans in the past 10 years.
Presler earned his CoSIDA Academic All-American honor in the men's at-large category which includes student/athletes from 12 men's sports: fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.

Presler had a career year on the mat in 2016-17 at 141 pounds and qualified for the NCAA Championship Meet for the first time in his career. He won 26 matches this season after winning 14 matches in each of his freshman and sophomore campaigns.
Presler qualified for the NCAA Meet by finishing third at the NCAA West Regional held at Concordia on Feb. 25. He started his trek to nationals by recording a pin fall in his first match at regionals but then lost 7-4 in the semifinals. He posted a 7-4 decision in the semifinals of the wrestlebacks and went on to a 10-6 win in the third-place match.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America program is administered by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Top student-athletes, who have already earned Academic All-District first-team honors, are eligible for inclusion on the Academic All-America team. Student-athletes must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their current institutions, have a grade-point average above 3.30 (4.0 scale) and have outstanding athletic credentials. The Academic All-America ballot is voted on by a committee of CoSIDA members. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in NCAA Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
