Seven Straight For Four Straight

MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/04/14)—No.6-ranked Concordia won seven straight matches to finish off cross-town rival MSU Moorhead 28-7 and post their fourth straight win over the Dragons and fifth in the last six years.

Concordia is now 14-4 in dual meets this year and continues to add to their school record for dual-meet wins in a season. 

The Cobbers fell behind 7-3 but then rattled off 25 unanswered points to beat NCAA Division II MSU Moorhead. CC posted five decision wins during their seven straight victories and had a major decision and a pin fall to finish off the annual dual meet.

Senior Jake Long started the comeback journey by dominating his match at 149 and earning a 13-4 major decision. His win tied the match at 7-7 and set the aggressive tone for the rest of the match. No.7-ranked Long is now 21-7 on the season.     

Kyle LeDuc, Jake Krogstad and Sebastian Gardner all followed with eight-point win totals to push the lead to 16-7. LeDuc collected his 21st win by virtue of an 8-3 win while Krogstad continued his late-season success and clained an 8-4 victory to post his eighth win in the last 10 matches. Gardner joined the 20-win club with an 8-4 win and is now 5-1 in his last six matches.

Chris Harrison backed up the eight-point trio by blanking his opponent 2-0 at 184. Like Gardner, Harrison has now won 20 matches on the season and gives the Cobbers five starters with at least 20 victories on the year.     

Delson Saintal and No.4-ranked Cody Kasprick closed out the match with convincing wins. Saintal scored an 11-4 victory at 197 to even his season record at 13-13 and Kasprick needed just 2-minutes to get the only pin fall of the night at 285. Kasprick is now 19-9 on the year and has won four straight matches by pin.

The other win on the night for Concordia came at 133 where No.5-ranked Jacoby Bergeron earned his team-leading 22nd win of the year. Bergeron never trailed in his individual bout and is now 22-7 in 2013-14.

The Cobbers will have a seven-day break before finishing off the "regular season" when they host Minnesota rival St. John's in a dual match on Feb. 11 at 7 p.m.
