9 Out Of 10 = 4 Out Of 5

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (2/08/13)—No.24-ranked Concordia won nine of the 10 individual matches against St. Olaf and eased their way to a 37-3 win. The Cobbers won the first four bouts of the dual and the last five to win their fourth dual meet in the last five outings.

The Cobbers appear to be peaking at just the right time before regionals as they dispatched their two dual-meet opponents this week by a combined score of 61-9. Concordia is now 7-5 in dual meets this season and 3-2 against Division III opponents.

The two biggest victories of the dual on Friday belonged to Jacoby Bergeron and Chris Harrison who both won by pin fall. Bergeron needed 4:11 to pin his opponent  at 133 while Harrison made quick work of his bout at 184 with a pin in only 54-seconds. The win was the eighth of the year for Bergeron who is now 8-2 since returning to the lineup on Jan. 19. He has now won seven of his last eight matches. Harrison wins for the fourth straight time and is now 15-11. The pin was also his team-leading seventh of the season.

The only other non-decision victory belonged to senior All-American Nathan Schmitz. Schmitz controlled his match at 197 in all three periods and came away with a 12-4 major decision. He is now 11-3 on the year and has won six of his last seven bouts.

Will McCarthy, Jake Long, Josten Coleman, Sebastian Gardner and Cody Kasprick all came away with wins by a decision. McCarthy started the Cobber victory parade when he earned a 4-3 decision at 125. Like Bergeron, McCarthy has now won seven of his last eight matches. Long won 10-4 at 149 before Coleman posted a 12-7 victory at 165 and Gardner had a 5-2 win at 174. Kasprick finished off the dual by gaining a 5-2 win at 285. The victory for Coleman was his team-leading 23rd of the year. He is now 23-8 and has also won seven of his last eight. Not to be outdone by Bergeron, McCarthy and Coleman, Long also earned his seventh win in his last eight outings and is now 13-7. Kasprick extended his team-leading win streak to seven and is now 19-11. He is one win away from becoming the third member of the Cobbers to win 20 matches on the year.

Concordia will finish off the regular season when they wrestle at No.21-ranked St. John's  in a dual meet on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. The Cobbers will then have two weeks to prepare for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Saturday, Mar. 2 beginning at 9 a.m. at Augsburg.
