#3 St. Cloud State Out Decisions Cobbers
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (12/11/12)— No.12-ranked Concordia lost four individual matches by four or fewer points and lost to No.3-ranked St. Cloud State 32-3 in St. Cloud on Tuesday.
The loss is the second straight against a Division II squad for the Cobbers. CC is now 1-2 in dual meets in 2012-13. The Huskies, who are ranked third in NCAA DII in the latest coaches' poll, earn their win in their first dual-meet of the season. SCSU has now won 27 straight dual meets.
While the final score might look one sided, the tale of the dual will be the nationally-ranked Huskies' ability to pull out the wins in the close matches. St. Cloud State won the first four matches of the meet by a combined 19 points and all four were won by seven or fewer points. The narrow misses continued after the Cobbers had picked up their lone win of the night. The Huskies record a pair of four-point wins at 174 and 184 to put the match out of reach.
Sophomore Jake Krogstad came away with the only win for Concordia. He was able to get the win in a close match and posted a 6-4 victory at 165. It is Krogstad's fifth win of the year as he moves to 5-6 on the year.
Perhaps the best individual match of the night came at 184 where freshman Chris Harrison battled Shamus O'Grady for three full periods and lost 12-8. O'Grady is currently ranked third at 184 in the latest Division II individual rankings.
Concordia will now head south to participate in the Gator Duals in New Orleans, La. On Sunday, Dec. 16 beginning at 9 a.m. The Cobbers will square off against Elmhurst, Simpson and Luther. Elmhurst is currently ranked third in Division III while Luther is 16th.
