Duals In The Desert

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (12/18/11)-- Concordia went 1-3 at the prestigious Las Vegas Duals Tournament on Sunday. The Cobbers beat Manchester (Ind.) to open the day but then lost to three top 10 teams. CC fell to No.1-ranked Wartburg, No.3-ranked Coe and then No.9-ranked Olivet to finish off the tournament.

Senior captain Daron Hohbein led the Cobbers as he posted a perfect 4-0 record. Hohbein, ranked fifth in the latest national rankings, also picked up the biggest individual win of the day as he beat No.3-ranked Tommy Mirocha of Wartburg 6-4. Hohbein also had a major decision and a pin fall at the tournament.

Junior Nathan Schmitz went 3-1 on the day at 197 with his only loss coming to No.-1ranked Byron tate of Wartburg. 

The Cobbers return to action when they compete in the National Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa on Jan. 7-8.
