Cobbers Fall At No.1 River Falls

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (01/05/24)---Concordia ran into the No.1-ranked team in Division III in its first game of 2024 and lost 8-0.

The Cobbers settled into the game in the final two periods of play after allowing five goals in the first 20 minutes of play. CC held the Falcons to a single goal in the second period and one more in the first 17 minutes of the third period before River Falls finished off the scoring at 17:41 of the third frame.

The loss ends a 2-game win streak for Concordia. CC is now 4-7-1 in their first 12 games of the season.

River Falls remains unbeaten on the year and moves to 13-0-0.

The Cobbers were outshot 44-14 in the game. Concordia was 0-for-4 on the power play, while the Falcons scored on two of their six extra-skater chances.

First-year forward Taylyn Cope led CC with four shots on goals. McKenzie Oelkers put up three shots, and Lila Lanctot and Reagan Wohlers both came away with two strikes on net.

Hailee Bailey started the game in goal for the Cobbers and posted 11 saves in the first 20 minutes. Becca Macklin played the final two periods and made 25 saves.
