MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (1/23/16)—Concordia was served a bagel for the second straight and lost by an identical 3-0 score line at Augsburg.

The Cobbers' offense outshot the Auggies in both games but couldn't get a puck past Augsburg goalie Erika Allen and fell to 9-7-1 in all games and 6-3-1 in the MIAC. Concordia started the weekend in first place in the league standings but the two shutout losses have dropped CC back to a tie for third place.

Augsburg leapfrogs Concordia in the standings. The Auggies are now 7-2-1 in the MIAC and 10-6-1 overall.

Concordia outshot the Auggies 21-20 on Saturday and had 48 total shots in the series but were never able to get on the board. The Cobbers also went 0-for-2 on the power play in each game of the series.

The teams battled through two scoreless periods on Saturday before Augsburg broke the game open with three goals in the final 7:27 of the final frame.

The Auggies scored an even-strength goal at 12:33 then added the insurance goal on a power play at 18:04 and then finished off the game with an empty-net score at 19:47.

Concordia had four players with at least three shots in the game. Senior Anna  Westmark had a team-high five shots while Abby Katzke and Tori Davis had four shots each and Jess Nelson added three.

Cobber goalie Andrea Klug stopped 17 of the 19 shots she faced in the game.

ROAD WOERRIORS
Concordia continues to struggle on the road. The Cobbers are now 2-5-0 away from Moorhead this season. CC is 7-2-1 at the Moorhead Sports Center. Concordia is 7-15-2 on the road in the past two seasons and 11-19-4 since the 2013-14 season.

WHAT'S NEXT
Good news for the Cobbers as they return home next weekend to host perennial MIAC power Gustavus in a two-game series on Friday, Jan. 29 and Saturday, Jan. 30. The Gusties are coming off a sweep over St. Olaf and are now 5-2-3 in the MIAC and 6-7-4 overall.
