Three Goal lead Evaporates Into A Tie

MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/20/12)-- Concordia watched a 3-0 lead evaporate in the second and third periods and settled for a 3-3 overtime tie with St. Ben's on Friday. The Cobbers took a 3-0 lead at the end of the first period but then couldn't get another and conceded three goals in the final 31:01 of play.

Concordia is now 8-2-2 on the season and 4-1-2 in conference play but 1-1-1 since the Christmas break. St. Ben's moves to 3-8-3 and 1-3-3 in the MIAC.

The Cobbers raced out to a 3-0 lead behind a pair of goals from Abby Taffe and one from Breann Julius. Taffe put Concordia up 1-0 at the 6:24 mark of the opening period and then added a second at 16:00. For Taffe it was her team-leading 10th and 11th goals of the season. Julius then extended the lead to 3-0 with her eighth goal of the year at 18:38.    

The Blazers started the comeback at 8:59 of the second period and then added a pair of goals in the third period.
