MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/17/24)---It was a beautiful day for the annual Senior Celebration Game and the Cobbers weren't about to let it get away.
Concordia held St. Scholastica to only 20 points in the first half of play, honored its two seniors at halftime and then coasted to an 86-52 victory in the regular-season finale.
The win is the 19th straight at home for the Cobbers, who enter the postseason with a 19-4 overall record and an 18-2 mark in the MIAC. It marks the second straight season that CC has recorded 18 wins in conference play.
Seniors Emily Beseman and Maddie Guler were center stage on Saturday and both produced to help get the team a win. Both players posted season-high assist total. Beseman came away with eight helpers to go with 12 points and three rebounds. The high-energy Guler dropped four dimes and had three rebounds and three steals.
Concordia had 12 players with at least two points in the final game of the regular season. Junior Makayla Anderson put up a game-high 18 points and added six rebounds.
Carlee Sieben and Greta Tollefson also finished with double-digit point totals. Sieben finished with 11 points, four rebounds and three assists, while Tollefson was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line and had 10 points and six boards.
The Cobbers enjoyed a 34-20 edge in rebounds and a 44-24 advantage in points in the paint. The 20 rebounds by the Saints equal the low total by a Cobber opponent in a game this year. CC also held St. Benedict to 20 rebounds on Dec. 6.
UP NEXT: Concordia will enter the conference postseason as the No.2 seed. The Cobbers will host the highest seed remaining in the tournament after Tuesday's quarterfinal games on Thursday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m.
