Concordia was one out away from its first MIAC win of the season, but St. Scholastica was able to come up with three consecutive baserunners to beat the Cobbers in Game 2 of the doubleheader and come away with a sweep in the doubleheader.

Concordia played its best doubleheader of the season and pushed MIAC Top 3 opponent St. Mary’s to the wire in both games. The Cobbers had the game-tying run at the plate in the seventh inning of both contests but were edged 2-1 and 5-3.

Concordia finished off its four games in the Twin Cities over the weekend by dropping a pair of games at Augsburg on Sunday. The Cobbers lost 3-2 in the opener and then fell 10-1 in Game 2.

After opening the season with 20 games on the road, Concordia was finally able to step onto the field at the Jake Christiansen Athletic Complex. The Cobbers hosted St. Benedict in the home opener and lost 12-1 and 10-1.

One inning proved to be the turning point in the Cobbers’ doubleheader at Macalester. Concordia took a 6-3 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning in Game 1, allowed four runs and lost 7-6. The Scots used that last-inning momentum to post a 4-run second inning in Game 2 and went on to win 11-3.

Kailee Falconer had a hit in both games of the Cobbers' conference opener at Gustavus. She went 3-for-6 and is hitting .472 for the year.
