A Windy Finish To The Season

MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/06/24)---Concordia finished off its season by dropping a pair of games to Carleton on a day where the wind was averaging 15-20 mph and gusting to 40 mph.

The Cobbers left nine runners on base in the opener and fell 7-0 and then left 10 more on the base paths in Game 2 and lost 9-2. Concordia hit .212 with runners on base and .190 with runners in scoring position in the two games against the Knights.  

Game 1: Concordia 0, Carleton 7
Carleton scored their runs in bunches in the opener. They plated two runs in the second, three more sixth, and finished with a pair of scores in the seventh.

The Cobbers' best chances to score came in the last two innings when they had runners on third base but couldn't get them across home plate. CC loaded the bases with two outs in the sixth innings but a strikeout ended the rally. Reese Hauck and Morgan Linstad opened the seventh with back-to-back singles and advanced to second and third on the next at-bat but couldn't get Concordia on the board.

Concordia had six hits in the first game with six different players getting a single hit.

Game 2: Concordia 2, Carleton 9
Senior Karissa Finnigan finished off her Cobber career in style by going 2-for-2 with a double and drove in one of the two Cobber runs in the final game of the season.

Junior Danielle Lyon had the other 2-hit game for CC. She went 2-for-3 and was 3-for-6 on the day.

Emma Bowman, Gabby Brown and Kate Gulbranson had the other hits for Concordia, while Rosie Unglaub scored both of the team's runs.
