Cobbers Finish Off Back-To-Back Road Doubleheaders

ST. PAUL, Minn. (4/25/24)---Concordia finished off their back-to-back MIAC road doubleheaders on Thursday by falling 9-1 and 4-2 at St. Catherine.

The two games in St. Paul came on the heels of the Cobbers' DH at St. Scholastica on Wednesday and are the final away games of the season or CC.

Game 1: Concordia 1, St. Catherine 9 (5 innings)
The Cobbers fell behind 2-0 after the first inning of the opener but rallied to pick up a run in the top of the second to bring the score to 2-1.

Kate Gulbranson reached on an infield to start the second frame. She moved up to second base on a single from Danielle Lyon and scored when Jillian Martinez ripped a single into the outfield.

That would be all the offense for the Cobbers in the game as they were held to three hits in the final three innings. The Wildcats plated seven unanswered runs to end the game in the fifth inning.

Concordia had five players post a single hit in the game. Besides Lyon and Martinez, Karissa Finnigan, Lexi Burke and Gabby Brown all came through with hits for CC.

Game 2: Concordia 2, St. Catherine 4
Like the first game, the Cobbers gave up two runs in the first inning and then rallied. Concordia scored a single run in the second and one in the fourth to tie the contest at 2-2 before St. Kate's won the second gamer with a pair of runs in the fifth.

First-year infielders Maddie Marvel and Jocelyn Maki were responsible for the runs in Game 2. Marvel had an RBI single in the second that plated Gulbranson and Maki smacked a double in the fourth that scored Morgan Linstad after Linstad led off the frame with a walk.

Emma Bowman had the other hit in the finale for CC as the Cobbers were outhit 8-3.

Kayley Bosc pitched the entire 6.0 innings and allowed four earned runs while striking out four.
