DULUTH, Minn. (4/24/24)---Concordia was one out away from its first MIAC win of the season, but St. Scholastica was able to come up with three consecutive baserunners to beat the Cobbers in Game 2 of the doubleheader and come away with a sweep in the doubleheader.

Concordia lost the opener 6-0 to the Saints in Duluth and then took a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the seventh in the finale. CC quickly got two outs on a line out and a strikeout, but then a double, error, stolen base and bloop single gave Scholastica two runs and a 5-4 win.

Game 1: Concordia 0, St. Scholastica 6
The Cobbers had one hit in the first game. That came in the third inning when Jocelyn Maki hit a 1-out double down the left-field line.

Concordia had five walks in the opener. Their best chance to score came in the second frame when Maki led off with a walk and pinch runner Rosie Unglaub stole second and advanced to third on a passed ball which set up a second-and-third situation after Kate Gulbranson walked. Gabriella Castro earned the third base on balls of the inning to load the bases with one out but CC couldn't come up with the key 2-out hit and stranded all three runners.

Lauren Staples went the first 2.0 innings in the circle. Lexi Burke entered the game in the third frame, gave up a single run and struck out two in 2.1 innings pitched. Kayley Bosc finished off the final 1.2 innings and didn't concede a run.

Game 2: Concordia 4, St. Scholastica 5
The Cobbers rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the third to take a 4-3 lead into the fateful bottom of the seventh.

Concordia opened the scoring in the finale on a Burke single that brought home Reese Hauck who got on the bases with a 1-out double.

The Saints took a 3-1 lead with a 3-run fourth frame before CC struck for two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Mallory Leitner drove in both runs in the fourth on a 1-out single and Gulbranson gave the Cobbers the 4-3 lead in the fifth with a sacrifice fly to right field.

Concordia outhit St. Scholastica 7-5 in Game 2. Burke went 2-for-3 to post the only multi-hit game for CC. It was the first game of her career when she posted more than one hit.
