ST. PAUL, Minn. (10/29/22)---Concordia conceded a pair of goals 8-minutes apart in the first half, and lost 2-1 at Hamline in the final game of the 2022 season.
The loss finishes the Cobbers' season who end the year with a 3-14-1 overall record and a 2-7-1 mark in MIAC play. The Pipers end their year with a 5-12-0 mark in all games and a 2-8-0 record in the conference.
Hamline opened the scoring when they were able to break free on the right wing and fire a shot into the far left corner. The goal 34:54 was the first of two in the final 12-minutes of the first half. The Pipers got the game winner just before the break at the 42:54 mark on a penalty kick after one of their attackers was taken down in the penalty area.
Concordia would counter with a spot kick of its own in the seventh minute of the second half. Senior Tyson Aberle converted the penalty kick to bring the Cobbers within one at 2-1. The goal at 51:17 was Aberle's first of the season.
Hamline held a 14-10 edge in total shots and a 5-3 edge in shots on goal. Concordia had one more corner kick in the game (5-4).
Matthew Nemer, Yousif Alshihmani and Theo Bellamy all had a team-high two shots in the game.
Sophomore goalie Jensen Waltz made three saves.
