Vah's 4-Goal Outburst Earns MIAC Player Of The Week Honors

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/04/21)---Concordia junior Telvin Vah (West Fargo, Minn.) was named the MIAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week for his 4-goal performance last week.

Vah scored all four of the Cobbers' goals in the two games as he helped the team go 2-0 in conference play.

The weekly award is the first of the year for Concordia player. It is Vah's second in the 2021 calendar year. He was named the MIAC Player of the Week on Apr. 19 in the shortened spring season.

Vah started his scoring tear in the final 20 minutes of Concordia's 2-1 win over St. John's. He opened the scorebook on the week by flicking home a goal from in close that tied the game at 71:56. Vah netted the game winner with 1:26 left in regulation. The goal was a complete solo effort as he dribbled past a pair of Johnnie defenders and then hammered a laser into the far right corner of the net.

On Saturday, Vah scored a goal in each half to help the Cobbers to a 2-0 victory at St. Mary's. The eventual game-winning goal was scored at 22:05 that slipped through the goalie's hands from 15 yards out from goal. The insurance strike came from a bad angle, only two yards off the end line. He was able to knock the ball past the goalie on the short side to give CC a comfortable 2-goal lead with 9:23 left to play.

Vah now has eight goals and four assists for 20 points in all games this season. He leads the MIAC in both goals and total points. Vah is tied for the league lead in goals in conference play (4) and is second in total points (10).

Vah will be looking to extend his scoring streak when the Cobbers host Gustavus on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 3:30 p.m.
