A Trio Of All-Conference Honorees

A Trio Of All-Conference Honorees

MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/09/17)----Concordia had three players named to the MIAC All-Conference Teams as selected by the league coaches.

Junior Austin Peterson was named to the MIAC All-Conference Team while sophomore Aronah Mukhtar and junior Justin Froslie earned MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention honors. Senior Austin Promersberger was chosen by Concordia to represent the team on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.

Peterson gives the Cobbers an MIAC All-Conference honoree in back-to-back seasons. It is the first time that Concordia has had players earn consecutive All-Conference honors since the 2010 and 2011 seasons.

The play of the four postseason honorees helped the Cobbers finished the season with a 5-10-2 overall record and a 2-6-2 mark in conference play.

Peterson, who was named to the MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention Team in 2016, was a versatile player for the Cobbers who started nine of the 10 conference games. He played in the back, as a central defender, and was also moved up front to give the Cobber offense a different attacking dimension.

Peterson finished the league season with one goal and two assists for four points. His lone goal in the MIAC was a big one as it was Concordia's lone goal in a 1-1 double overtime tie at St. Olaf. His two assists came in a 3-3 tie with St. John's and then on the game-winning goal in the final game of the season at St. Mary's.

Mukhtar led the team in scoring during the MIAC season. He netted four goals and added two assists for 10 points. Both totals were career highs. His four goals were tied for fourth among conference players and his 10 points was also tied for fourth best. Mukhtar also led the team in shots and shots on goal in league play.

Mukhtar had a pair of multiple point games in conference play. He scored two of the team's three goals against St. John's and then had a goal and an assist against Augsburg. His high water mark for shots came against the Johnnies and Gustavus when he had three shots in both games.

Froslie was the team's assist leader for the year. His six helpers were second best among all MIAC players. Froslie played in all 10 league games and finished with one goal and six assists for eight points.

His lone goal of the year was the game winner against Carleton. He had assists in five of the 10 MIAC contests and recorded two assists vs. St. John's in the 3-3 double overtime tie.
