First Half Continues To Foil Cobbers

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (11/01/14)—Concordia gave up a goal in the sixth minute of play and then a pair in a span of seven minutes at the start of the second half and lost 3-0 at St. John's in the final game of the 2014 season.

The Cobbers Achilles' heel all season long has been giving up an early goal and then being forced to chase the game for a huge chunk of time. The Johnnies scored at the 5:56 mark to make the Cobbers try to rally from behind for 84 of the 90 minutes. Concordia conceded the first goal in the first 20 minutes in eight of their 10 conference games. CC did not lead in the first half in any MIAC game and was outscored by a combined margin of 9-2 against league opponents in the first 45 minutes of play.

Concordia had a few chances to tie the game when they broke quickly and got free on the counterattack.

The game was finished off after the first 15 minutes of the second half. St. John's scored their second goal of the game at 52:32 and then added the third at 59:22.

Concordia was outshot 27-6 in the game.  Cobber freshman Jacob Schmidt had a team-high two shots.

CC goalie Ben Glogoza made 12 saves.
